PARKS & GARDENS Green space is ample in the Loves Park area providing lots of opportunity for recreation. Within miles of the Blue River Homes communities are 2 exceptionally beautiful and large green spaces; one a park and one a garden.

Rock Cut State Park features over 3,000 acres of parkland which offers fishing, sailing, ice skating and swimming on Olsen Lake. The park has miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and horse-back riding. Rock Cut is also a destination for camping.

Anderson Japanese Gardens features 2 gardens including a formal Japanese garden and a contemporary international garden.

Loves Park is part of the Rockford Park District which has 176 parks covering 4500 acres. Several parks within the park district are within miles of the Blue River Community.

GOLF Golf is abundant in the Loves Park area.

Aldeen Golf Club, the area’s premier public golf facility (which receive 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest Magazine’s Places to Play guidebook- the highest rating for a public course) is just minutes from Blue River Homes. In addition to the gorgeous course, Aldeen features a state of the art practice center and driving range.

Swan Hills Golf Course in Boone County is within miles of Blue River. Swan Hills is a lovely public course and a popular place for outings and events.

Rockford Park District has four golf courses that have all been awarded at least 3 of 5 stars in the 2004 Places to Play ratings.

Other Rockford courses include Alpine Hills and Newburg Village Golf Club.

Just north of Loves Park and within 15 minutes of driving are Macktown golf course and The Ledges Golf Course.

East of the area is The Golf Club @ Timber Pointe. And to the south of Rockford in the Byron/Oregon area are PrairieView Golf Course and Silveridge Golf Course.

SPORTS & RECREATION It’s no wonder the condominium lifestyle is popular in the Loves Park area with all the recreational and sports activities available.

Blue River Homes communities are within walking distance of a network of bike paths connecting Rock Cut State Park, areas of Rockford, parts of Roscoe/Rockton, Cherry Valley and Forest Preserve.

Magic Waters is Illinois’ largest water theme park and located just off of I-90. The Rockford Riverhawks stadium is less than 5 miles from the Blue River neighborhoods.

The Riverhawks are a semi-pro team that is part of the Frontier League.

The Rockford Speedway just north of Loves Park, is a quarter mile, high-banked racetrack featuring NASCAR sanctioned weekly racing.

The MetroCentre, in downtown Rockford is the home to the Rockford Ice Hogs, a semi-pro hockey team.

ARTS, MUSIC AND CULTURE The Loves Park area has a plethora of music, arts and cultural events, organizations and venues easily accessible to Blue River communities.

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is a professional symphony that performs at the Coronado Theater and other venues throughout the year.

The Coronado Theater just miles from Blue River, features classical music performances, dances performances, live theater, Broadway Shows and variety of artists throughout the year.

On the Waterfront held along the Rock River on approximately 30 city blocks, is the largest music festival in Illinois. This event is held annually on Labor Day weekend.

The Metro Center /Centre Events hosts a variety of popular entertainers, spectator events and trade shows. Davis Park at Founders Landing provides an outdoor stage venue for performers.

The Loves Park area features a variety of museums in close proximity.

The Burpee Museum of Natural History is a venue for the study of animals, rocks, fossels and native Americans. The most popular exhibit is probably Jane, a 65 million year old, juvenile Tyrannosaur.

The Discovery Center Museum is a family center focused on learning through science and arts exhibits.

The Midway Village and Museum Center is within five miles of the Blue River communities and is dedicated to the history of the local area. At Midway Village, you can experience live at the turn-of – the-century through the historic village and displays.

The Rockford Art Museum, adjacent to the Rock River features exhibits of national and regional artists. The Museum also houses a permanent collection, features classes and workshops, a sculpture garden and a Museum Shop.

The Tinker Swiss Cottage, south of Loves Park is a historic house museum, built in Swiss-style architecture by Robert Tinker.

The local community boasts a variety of art studios and galleries.

The Greenwich Village Art Fair is a 2-day juried art fair held annually in September that features more than 100 local, regional & national artists.
